David Safarian

David Safarian was born in 1952 in Jerevan (Armenia). He studied directing at the Institute for Fine Arts and Theatre in Jerevan. From 1975 to 1978 he worked with the Armenian documentary film studio and as actor with the Armenian TV-Theatre. In 1983 he graduated from the VGIK, the Moscow Film Institute. He has made many documentaries, among them However Odd, But Khokhlova (1986), which in 1987 won the Fipresci Prize at the Moscow Film Festival.
