Caroline is a young factory worker trying to survive in post-World War I Copenhagen.
Pregnant and abandoned, Caroline remains unemployed and meets Dagmar, a charismatic woman who runs an underground adoption agency where she helps mothers find shelter for their unwanted children.
With nowhere else to go, Caroline takes a job at the agency and breastfeeds the children. A strong bond is formed between the women, but Caroline's world is shattered when she learns a shocking truth about her job.
Inspired by a true story, Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle" tells the story of a woman who struggles to find love and maintain her morality.
