On April 16, 2023, the Armenian film industry turned 100 years old. In this regard, within the framework of the Tbilisi Film Festival, in cooperation with the National Cinematography Center of Armenia, screenings of Armenian films will be held.
The themes that you will encounter in Armenian cinema touch on the main problems that have determined the development of civilization in the modern world. In Armenian cinema, Western and Eastern cultural paradigms come into conflict and often merge with each other. These perspectives are especially timely, tangible and relevant today, as they discuss such universal issues as: world wars, genocide, colonialism, class oppression, cultural identity, women's rights from a peripheral position, and others.
In order to critically and re-evaluate the Armenian cinematic heritage, the National Film Center of Armenia has released a series of film programs and restored films. All of this aims to present the main, cultural direction of Armenian cinema to an international audience.
